The world has never experienced anything quite like the coronavirus.
The virus has already ravaged numerous countries and was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organisation.
As a result, South Africa needed to act swiftly and President Ramaphosa did just that in a special address to the nation on Monday evening.
The key announcement was that South Africa would experience an enforced 21-day lockdown, commencing from Thursday evening.
Ramaphosa shared numerous other important announcements as well.
The encouraging part is that government has strongly considered the impact on the economy and will be introducing various measures to help business and the South African citizens.

South Africans have taken to social media to share their views on the subject.
