Legendary musician Neil Diamond has remixed one of his smash hits ‘Sweet Caroline’ in a bid to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

The track is arguably Diamond's greatest of all time, so the lyrics should resonate with many people around the world.

He performed the remixed version while strumming the guitar in his lounge and shared it via social media.

Diamond can be heard saying, "I know we're going through a rough time right now but I love ya and I think maybe if we sing together, well, we'll just feel a little bit better."

Briefly.co.za noted the remix is proving to be a big hit, as it's been viewed nearly five million times.

The tune is still as catchy as ever, but Diamond numerously reminds listeners to wash hands and not to touch.

Closer to home, President Ramaphosa announced a 21-day lockdown on Monday evening.

Ironically, it seems the announcement did little to calm South Africans, as many flocked to the shops.
