Briefly.co.za learnt that the series will focus on rejoicing and honouring black people’s hair.
Gigi explained to TshisaLIVE that she has always had the desire to be a presenter. She has always been a fan of the entertainment industry as a whole.
During her high school career, Gigi excelled as a drama student. She said that it is uncanny that what she is so interested in is hair, politics etc.
It was at the South African Music Awards held this year, that Gigi met the founder of the African Hair Awards. She initialled made their acquaintances last year at the same function and they made a good connection. The conversation was based on hair.
Gigi says one of the founders approached her with the idea they were working on and felt that she would be perfect for the project. He went on to say that they were looking for someone that would be able to not only read the script but will understand it and find it interesting.
Gigi went on to say that she is so happy with the series and sees it as an amazing concept. The show will consist of Gigi and a panel of judges who will discuss all there is to do with back hair.
When the question if the COVID-10 national shut-down will be affecting the show, Gigi replied that they have been able to get so much done already. She said that she does not think it will affect them as the independent production company they have is very strong.
With the presenting Gigi will be doing, she said that she genuinely loves her music career as well as the presenting. With her love for both careers it’s not a matter of juggling anything it’s just her doing two different careers that she enjoys!
