- A lot of people are still busy with last-minute lockdown shopping
- Stars like Somizi Mhlongo encouraged their fans to buy everything that they can from their local street vendors
- Prince Kaybee has taken it a step further and encouraged his fans to just give vendors the money, so they can keep stock to use as their own groceries
Prince Kaybee has encouraged his fans give money to street vendors so they can keep their stock as groceries for themselves.
The star posted the message after Somizi Mhlongo went viral for buying a street vendor's entire stock.
It's going to be a tough and long three weeks for hawkers and street vendors who depend on their daily sales.
Somizi Mhlongo helped one out by buying all their stock.
Prince Kaybee hopped on Twitter and said it doesn't make much sense to him to do that.
He wrote, "The whole thing of buying all stock from street vendors doesn't make sense to me. Why not just give them the money and let them keep that stock as groceries for themselves for the rest of the lockdown, so that when they get back, they have capital to buy more stock?"
Kaybee added that if you can afford to buy all the stock, then you can definitely afford to just donate the money.
Funnyman social media videographer, Ndivhuwo Muhanelwa, pointed out that it only cost him R150 to buy a street vendor's entire stock.
