Yesterday, covered an article reporting on a Tweet that Cassper Nyovest made in response to Rihanna's R88-million donation to help fight the coronavirus.

He said:

"We don't have Rihanna money. Truth is, we don't even know what we gone eat if the lockdown goes down for more than 3 months. Maybe if we were supported and stanned like yall stan Drake and Rihanna we would have the money to help. It's not that we don't want to, we don't have."

South Africans were not that impressed by his claim that he didn't have any money, and many pointed out the times when he boasted about how much money he was making.

The article included some initial reactions to his Twitter post.

@ForKingsOnly1: U have money but u dont want to give out
@ForKingsOnly1: Its time to show that you cate much about your fanz give them the little u have ..God bless bless the hand that giveth
@Lols157: We already got R2b. Leave @casspernyovest alone. You play your FIFA.
@4040Misu: Riri and 6th buzz make classics you make relative music and move with trends..1st album was good ,,Than you changed on us and started making music to be relative and trendy which you lost the style ...ntanga "gusheshe" will always be on the list but not "Titi mboweni"
@Tiyiselani_TP: You always say your bank is loaded with lots of money mus

However, since the article was published on Facebook, many people commented on the story:

Kearabetswe Irene: Aowa mara Cassper's music is whack. So we have to buy whack music just because he feels he needs more support?? He must stop comparing himself to others. If he wants to donate, he must do so without making a big deal out of it. But then, no one is forced to donate so let me tool
Chepo Mokoena: What a pitty Casper you've disappointed me sell your time piece and one car to show you really mean what you are saying, when y'all are showing off your achievements...forget that ordinary people put you where you are who filled the dome if people are not supporting you man up
Mamatshego Cassandra Confidence So its our fault that he can't contribute... We all can't and wish to but we blame no one. Maybe if his work sold it self like Rihannas we wouldn't be having this conversation
Bongani Sibo Mathe The guy is flaunting with Rolex watches costing millions ,then you expect us to keep supporting you to make a donation, bro don't play with our minds
Gift Mpho Mulaudzi You must remember those words when the next fill up came and by the way it's not a force so those Samaritans will keep on donating . now i understand why that guy wanna gave you a #superpunch

However, to his credit, Cassper Nyovest has donated to worthy causes in the past.
