- The Economic Freedom Fighters were seen handing out free hand sanitiser to combat the threat of the coronavirus
- EFF leader Julius Malema shared news of the gesture via social media
- Thousands praised the party and queried where it could be collected
In light of the Covid-19 crisis, the EFF decided to hand out free hand sanitiser to South Africans in need.
EFF leader Julius Malema took to Twitter to share news of the good deed and the post went viral.
Briefly.co.za noted that the tweet garnered nearly 20 000 likes since it was shared on Monday.
Many South Africans rallied behind the EFF and shared their appreciation for Juju's team.
However, others weren't impressed and felt it was all a political ploy to increase popularity with voters.
Somagwaza (@Somagwaza3) said,
"I foresee "ANC hand sanitizer" loading already. Those guys don't have brain cells any more. Copy cats."
Professor JP Mahlangu (@maths00001) added,
"EFF remains the only party that will uplift and rescue our people free of charge.Re phelele EFF, re phelele CiC. We continue to value the lives of our people by instilling maximum hygiene."
Ndaba, Mhlungu, Ligode (@tndaba) said,
"Halala EFF, Halala Julius Malema."
Briefly.co.za previously reported that Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize initially told Mzansi that citizens would be allowed to go for jogs and even walk their dogs during lockdown.
However, Juju took exception to this and issued an uncompromising statement.
In response, Malema said that rubbish won't be tolerated.
