Kaizer Chiefs legend Doctor Khumalo has to come to terms with the passing of his mother Mable Khumalo.
His mom lost her life at the Netcare Union Hospital in Gauteng, as reported by Sport24.
PSL chairperson Irvin Khoza and Kaizer Chiefs boss Kaizer Motaung paid tribute to the family's matriarch.
The PSL issued a statement on behalf of Khoza. The statement concluded by thanking both parents for raising one of Mzansi's finest football talents.
"We are grateful to Ausi Mable for her role besides the legendary late Eliakim ‘Pro’ Khumalo for nurturing an era-defining talent, Doctor Khumalo."
Aside from having to process the huge loss, the family will need to conclude funeral arrangements.
Unfortunately, South Africa is in the midst of the nationwide lockdown and this presents the Khumalo family with a huge challenge.
A maximum of 50 people will be allowed to attend - as per the lockdown rules. This number includes any dignitaries, undertakers, family and other mourners.
SowetanLIVE reported that only a limited number of family members will be allowed to attend.
The family’s spokesperson Telavukosi Mabasa said, "Only a limited number of the Khumalo family have been requested to attend the funeral."
Not long ago, Briefly.co.za celebrated Khumalo's 52nd birthday. To mark the occasion, we shared some fascinating facts about the man known as 16 valve.
