Ghana’s president donates 3 months of his salary to Covid-19 fund

On Friday, Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo announced the establishment of a fund to receive contributions and donations to support the coronavirus victims.

The president revealed this when he announced a lockdown of Accra, Tema, Kasoa and Kumasi in an address to the nation.

He also stated that the Covid-19 Fund would be chaired by former Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo.

The president pledged his salary for the next three months – April, May and June – as his contribution to the fund, which will be managed by an independent board of trustees.

Akufo-Addo was full of praise for churches, organisations and individuals who have so far contributed towards the care of people affected by this virus.

Meanwhile, Ghanaian real estate mogul and billionaire, Nana Kwame Bedikao, popularly known as Cheddar, has warmed the hearts of many in the country.

The billionaire, who is a friend to boxing legend, Floyd Mayweather Jnr, has extended a kind gesture to the poor.

Cheddar has released heartwarming photos and a video showing love to the less fortunate.

In the photos and a video seen by Briefly.co.za, Cheddar loaded assorted items into his trucks.

Captioning wrote of his posts wrote:

"The little things we do from the bottom of our heart determines the level of our kindness to humanity. Those who know how to share proportionally will always have the ability to manage their world."

Cheddar and his team then hit the streets and started sharing the assorted items with the poor.

The Ghanaian rich kid has been applauded by social media users for remembering those less fortunate.
