- Thando Thabethe has blasted the management at her former workplace, 5FM
- The star opened up to her followers about the poor treatment she received from the station prior to her resignation
- Thando hopes that, through her exposing them, justice can be served
Thando Thabethe has exposed the shady dealings that went on at her former workplace, 5FM, that caused her to resign.
The beauty walked away from 5FM last month after 6 years at the SABC station.
Thando alleges that the 5FM station manager, JD Mostert, and programme manager, Siyanda Fikelepi, reneged on her contract renewal after she asked for a raise.
She wrote, "On Friday, 28 February, I had a meeting with the programme manager who let me know that the show was renewed, as per our annual negotiations."
"I tried to negotiate a raise of R200 an hour. At this point, he had agreed for me to take two weeks' leave to shoot Housekeepers."
Thando continued, "Fast forward to the following Monday, I hear that the Thabooty drive will be no longer as it doesn't fit into the two-five year plan of the SABC."
The star said she heard about her show's cancellation from colleagues as opposed to being informed directly.
Thando complained to SABC management and, after some back and forth wrangling, was offered a Sunday 4am to 7am slot.
The sometime club DJ said she found the offer an insult after being on radio for 11 years, and subsequently resigned.
Thando initially gave the reason for her resignation as a desire to concentrate more on her acting career.
