Cassper Nyovest is currently enjoying his life in the big city of Johannesburg, but he is also clued-up about his home town's state of affairs.

The rapper says it "hurts" to admit that his home town, known to many as Maftown, is in a state of dilapidation.

The Monate Mpolaye hitmaker was responding to a social media user who had tweeted that the town was in a bad state.

"This hurts to admit but it's also not our fault though."

Cassper accused the people who "ruined" the town that was once "beautiful" of looting.

"The people who ruined Mafikeng know themselves. They looted the whole bank account. Savings and all. It hurts to go home now cause that place was beautiful."

The rapper said it's "sad" that now all you hear are stories of how beautiful things used to be.

Maftown is also home to other famous Mzansi rappers such as HHP, Khuli Chana and Tuks Senganga.

People from Cassper's childhood neighbourhood also agreed that their town is in a state of disrepair.

@Its_Otee commented:

"There's no beauty in the fallen Mafikeng left. It truly is sad to see. There's absolutely nothing functional. You can't even try to establish anything there because maComrade need to have their cut. Kleptocracy is the order of the day. There's literally nothing left to loot."

@ThoughtBleeding wrote:

"It's worse now during this period, because majority of its population are students. Now it's just an empty city with old aged buildings, actually looking like an unused museum. Especially Mmabatho."

@_DaFaith challenged Cassper to run for mayor in order to renew Mafikeng.

"Run for mayor maybe we can do Fill Ups to reinvigorate the area."
