A granny, Wanda, who accidentally invited a stranger over for Thanksgiving and led to two families becoming friends, has been struck by tragedy. The story went viral and the families ended up spending the holiday together for the next few years.
Tragedy struck Wanda as she lost her husband, Lonnie, to Covid-19.
Wanda says of her late husband, "He had the truest heart of love, like no other. He did so many acts of kindness that no one ever heard about. He was my hero. And I’m a better person because of him."
Briefly.co.za learned that he was responsible for saying grace at Thanksgiving, the first to welcome people into their homes and the last to say goodbye.
It is not clear how Lonnie contracted the disease, but it is believed that he got it while delivering water to grocery stores last month according to TMZ.

Four years ago, an Arizona grandmother, Wanda Dench, accidentally invited Jamal Hinton, 20, to Thanksgiving.
The 62-year-old thought she was inviting her own grandson but she had the wrong cellphone number and ended up extending the invite to Hinton instead.
According to ABC7news, the text message went viral and duo decided to meet each other.
