While the lockdown has put immense pressure on the economy, it has helped families to get closer.
One single mom, Anam Amazizi Matshikiza, and her children decided to do some restoration work in their home.
Matshikiza used the lockdown to get things done around the house while also spending time with her children - who are aged nine and 12.
She revealed that she works two jobs to support her kids and the lockdown enabled her to slow down and have some family time.
Taking to the #ImStaying Facebook page, Matshikiza posted snaps of her kids painting their rooms and she shared her story.
Take a look at her post below:
The post received more than 22 000 reactions and South Africans applauded the hard-working single mother.
Melanie Hardern commented:
"What a lovely project for you and your children! Well done and may they love their special space."
Alma Frylinck du Preez said:
"How many wonderful memories are painted into these walls. No money can make up for time spent in love with family."
Gadieja Sall wrote:
"This is beautiful, thank you for the nice words."
Prudence Mosito added:
"God bless your hands! Beautiful!"
Matshikiza is not the only parent who got to spend time with her children. Briefly.co.za previously reported on a father, Siya Sanele Maphumulo, who seemingly took the approach that charity starts at home and what better way than to invest time in his son.
Making the most of his free time, Siya spent the day playing with his boy in their back garden. The father and son duo teamed up to build an impressive miniature farm by using a wide array of materials.
