Mbuyiseni Ndlozi is not impressed by the news that the SABC is investigating Somizi Mhlongo for his "bad joke" on Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula.
The Economic Freedom Fighters Member of Parliament has taken to social media to criticise the decision by the SABC to investigate the Metro FM presenter for violating government’s lockdown rules and regulations.
"Absolutely ridiculous. He didn’t say this on air, or to audiences. It’s overreach and abuse of power!!!"
Somizi had to fork out R1 000 for bail following the "bad joke" he made on Mbalula. He has been scheduled to appear again at the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on 30 April.
He was arrested on charges of misinformation or spreading fake news on Thursday last week after Mbalula laid the charges against him.
Briefly.co.za reported that a video surfaced on social media of Somizi telling his Metro FM workmate Dineo Ranaka that the lockdown would be extended, hours before President Cyril Ramaphosa made the announcement.
Mbalula said that he had not disclosed information relating to the lockdown extension to Somizi.
The reality TV star has released a statement online apologising for what he called a bad joke. Mbalula has accepted his apology.

Ndlozi’s tweet about the SABC has left social media users divided on the matter. Some agreed with Ndlozi while others accused him of applying double-standards.
"Fully agree with you Dr. as I heard about this I just laughed because it was clearly a joke but the media always make a meal out of nothing. I don't understand why is this issue given so much air. This was a joke everyone could make and he has apologized for God sake."
"Double standards this one. If it was someone else, the tweet was gonna be different. Look at his tweet on Simza. Just because they eat from the same table."
