International super celebs like Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Cristiano Ronald, Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Ciara, and Russell Wilson have been using their platforms to raise funds for various coronavirus relief and support funds.
Here are just a few of the superstars who have become superheroes and what they have done or are doing to help combat the effects coronavirus.
1. Cristiano Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo has emerged out of his own battle with the coronavirus with an eye towards helping Portugal overcome the outbreak.
The Juventus website has reported the striker will be converting his hotels into medical centres to help those suffering during these difficult times.
2. Jay Z
He donated $1 million (R18 million) donation to support non-profit organisations in New York and Los Angeles through his Shawn Carter Foundation.
3 Princess Sofia of Sweden
Swedish Princess Sofia Kristina Hellqvist has begun working alongside other healthcare assistants in the hospital to help her country in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
The Duchess of Värmland completed a three-day training course at Sophiahemmet University College in Stockholm and will now assist healthcare workers at the same hospital.
Singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, who allegedly has a garage worth over R9 million, revealed that he would not mind selling off his expensive cars to help Covid-19 victims.
5. Bill and Melinda Gates
The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation announced an extra funding of $150 million (R2.8 billion) to help in the fight against the virus.
She pledged $5 million (R266 million) to provide medical supplies to impoverished communities across the US, Caribbean and Africa through her Clara Lionel Foundation (CLF).
Rihanna then made an additional $1 million (R18 million) donation to support non-profit organisations in New York and Los Angeles.
7. Lionel Messi
Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has made an awesome donation of €1m (R18.8 million) to Hospital Clinic to help them in their research and the fight against the coronavirus.
