Another actor Sipho Ngema allegedly dies, tributes flood social media

The South African television industry has lost yet another talented actor.

Former Uzalo and Rhythm City actor Sipho Ngema reportedly passed away in a Johannesburg hospital late on Tuesday from heart failure.

Sipho's daughter Mbali told TshisaLIVE on Wednesday:

"He passed away [on Tuesday] night at 10.15pm at a hospital in Johannesburg. He suffered from pulmonary hypertension, which caused his heart to fail. The family is currently discussing details of his burial."

Since the news of his death, social media has been swamped with messages of condolences from his peers and fans.

"Are the Twitter streets aware of his passing? Rest in Peace Sipho Ngema Madlokovu Mngadi, I know him for many characters especially Batista on Love Specialist."

@PopPulseSA wrote:

"Actor Sipho Ngema has passed away. He had a recurring role of Raymond on etv's Rhythm City."

Actor and director Jabulani Mthembu also confirmed the news of Sipho's passing in a Facebook post.

When one social media user said this was fake news, Mthembu replied:

"I wish it was. I am from his place today."
