Marty Gandelman and his wife, Stephanie, from New Jersey in the US had been trying to conceive for three years before they finally fell pregnant.

According to Refinery, the couple turned to medicine for help and underwent four rounds of in-vitro fertilisation.

However, Stephanie suffered three miscarriages before she fell pregnant with their first child. The first-time mom was due to give birth in April this year but she went into induced labour on 27 March, Parent24 reported.

However, when the time came for their little boy to make his arrival, Marty could not be in the delivery room.

Stephanie said they were both sad to hear the news and it was "hard to take".

The first-time dad was not allowed to be in the room with his 34-year-old wife because of the lockdown and social distancing restrictions imposed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, which has seen countries around the world shut down.

He explained:

"By the time it happened it had sunk in that I had to stay at home but I was very, very upset at first."

However, thankfully, technology allowed Marty to witness the moment even though he could not be there physically.

The proud dad watched the moment his son, Jake, came into the world through a Zoom video call.

Marty said it was hard not being present to hug his son but he was "over the moon" when he saw his wife and Jake were okay.

Meanwhile, previously reported a woman gave birth to twins amid the coronavirus outbreak.

The couple surprised the world when they revealed that they had decided to name the newborn babies 'Corona' and 'Covid'.

The couple says the name would remind them of all the difficulties they conquered amid the lockdown ahead of a successful delivery.
