Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has been overlooked from the list of most decorated players in European leagues.

The 35-year-old who joined the Old Lady after the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia has won a total of 26 titles so far in his club career.

Ronaldo clinched nine titles at Manchester United before joining Real Madrid where he became triumphant 15 times in nine seasons.

He has so far won two trophies at the Allianz Stadium with the third one in view at the end of the ongoing season.

Ronaldo is the second player to have five Ballon d'Or awards - the only player to have more than him is Barcelona legend Lionel Messi, but did not make the list, as reported by Daily Star.

However, the winger was shunned from the list despite spending six seasons at Old Trafford while Gary Neville, Paul Scholes, and Ryan Giggs were the legends selected from the Premier League.

Another notable name missing on the shortlist is Brazilian right-back Dani Alves who is one of the world’s most decorated players with 43 honours in total.

Most Decorated XI as revealed by William Hill:

1: Gianluigi Buffon - 24 trophies

2: Gary Neville - 20 trophies

3: Phillip Lahm - 21 trophies

4: Thiago Silva - 20 trophies

5: Paolo Maldini - 25 trophies

6: Andres Iniesta - 32 trophies

7: Marco Verratti - 22 trophies

8: Paul Scholes - 26 trophies

11: Ryan Giggs - 34 trophies

  • Oliver Kahn - 22 trophies
  • Marquinhos - 19 trophies

Alves, the former Juventus and PSG star, won most of his titles playing for the Catalans (28) but his ex-teammates Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta and Sergio Busquets pip him on Spanish accolades.

Tony Smith, online marketing director at William Hill, said: "The best starting XI from over the years is a hotly debated topic amongst football supporters, so we decided to put this to the test and select a one to 11 based on major trophies won by players who have played in the top five European leagues over the last 30 years.
