It seems as if eThekwini and certain areas of KwaZulu-Natal will remain on full lockdown while other areas move to Level 4 lockdown on Friday.
With Durban registering over ten new coronavirus cases on a daily basis, the region is under immense pressure to keep the pandemic under control.
eNCA reports that KwaZulu-Natal premier Sihle Zikalala commented on the current situation:
“Our initial suspicion is that there may be a problem with the management of these cases, particularly in the private sector. We have therefore instituted an investigation through the Department of Health. This investigation must tell us whether the reason for this is due to medical reasons or negligence."

Zikalala also raised concern over the number of healthcare workers infected with the virus despite allegedly having access to the required personal protective equipment.
"It would appear that we probably need to further capacitate our healthcare workers in the correct use of PPE."
Briefly.co.za reported that a team of Cuban doctors arrived in South Africa to bolster the nation's response to the crisis.
The provincial authorities are hopeful that a contingent will be deployed to KwaZulu-Natal to help limit the continued spread of the virus.
