Troy Sneed: Grammy nominated gospel singer dies from coronavirus

Grammy-nominated gospel singer, Troy Sneed, has joined the growing list of people to die from the coronavirus.

According to reports from Daily Mail, the singer died at the age of 52 on Monday.

Sneed’s publicist, Bill Carpenter, revealed the sad news as he said that the singer died at a hospital in Jacksonville, Florida.

Before his death, Sneed had several hit songs and had released seven albums. He also served as a producer on Youth For Christ’s The Struggle is Over and it was a number one on the Billboard chart for gospel songs in 2006.

Sneed also appeared with the choir in a 1996 movie alongside Whitney Houston and Denzel Washington titled The Preacher’s Wife.

In other sad news, it was reported that legendary jazz singer, Ellis Marsalis Jr, passed on from the coronavirus as well.

The musician and teacher died on Wednesday, 1 April as a result of complications from the coronavirus, USA Today reports.

Marsalis’ son, Brandon, shared the sad news in a statement where he revealed that his father passed on peacefully after he was admitted to the hospital on Saturday.

Further in the statement, Brandon also hailed his father as a good teacher and musician.

He said: “My dad was a giant of a musician and teacher, but an even greater father. He poured everything he had into making us the best of what we could be.”
