Doing normal everyday things during lockdown can be difficult. Try giving birth. A South African mom tweeted her experience of giving birth during lockdown and inspired the nation.

A social media user who goes by the handle @palidotcom tweeted her experience in the delivery room.

Briefly.co.za learned that her first tweet in the series was a promise to herself not to parent in fear of what other people expect. She didn't want to be forced into a narrow corner of parenting restricted by other people's experiences and expectations.

Later that morning she made the announcement with a beautiful smile on her face.

"I’m a mom bathong. Literally."

She let her family know the good news via video calls and gave us an insight into the close relationship she shares with her parents.

She revealed that she had a delivery room playlist queued up to listen to while she gave birth. Little did she know that she would be in labour for three days. After having the playlist on repeat she had an AKA song stuck in her head. She will probably think of her labour every time she hears it in the future.

In other news, Briefly.co.za reported on another expecting mom, perhaps she will be inspired by @palidotcom's experience.
