- Former Bafana Bafana star Bongani Khumalo is doing his bit during the nationwide lockdown
- The defender has donated his full salary and it will be used to purchase and distribute food parcels for those in need
- Khumalo aims to assist 300 families amidst the Covid-19 crisis
The coronavirus pandemic has had a massive impact globally and has had a devastating effect on the lives of many.
While the virus has claimed the lives of many around the world, the economic impact has been equally great.
Many of the world's wealthiest men and women have generously donated during this time, but this cannot be taken as a given.
In fact, Briefly.co.za earlier reported that former Premier League star Emmanuel Adebayor has refused to donate towards the fight in his home country, Togo.
The striker insists he did not bring the virus to Togo and will spend his money in the way he sees fit.
It was therefore refreshing to learn that former Bafana Bafana star Bongani Khumalo is contributing towards fighting the pandemic.
Khumalo first made a name for himself at SuperSport United, but also enjoyed a spell at Tottenham Hotspurs in the English Premier League.
City Press reported that Khumalo has donated his full salary towards the acquisition and distribution of food parcels to those in need.
Briefly.co.za learnt that Khumalo's aim is to assist 300 impoverished families during this challenging period.
Khumalo said, "I am doing this in my personal capacity, this is not for personal glory."
