Following weeks of being quarantined after testing positive for the novel coronavirus, social media user @ant_them5 is among the few who have survived to tell their story.
In late February, @ant_them5 of Durham, North Carolina disclosed that he had tested positive for Covid-19.
The survivor said after he learned that he had tested positive for the dreaded coronavirus he had to share his truth to create awareness.
He posted on Instagram:
''Hey my people! Like many others, I learned today that I tested positive for the dreaded #Coronavirus. I’m not posting this because I want sympathy, I’m posting this to make you aware!! Please be careful and adhere to the advice of the health professionals."
After weeks of being in isolation while undergoing treatment, @ant_them5 took to social media to recount his ordeal.
''I know a lot of you are thinking, that I shared that I tested positive over a month ago and I should’ve been fine by now. I thought so too! However, for some reason I had a lingering cough, that wouldn’t go away. I asked my primary care physician after 3 weeks of quarantine, what’s going on? She said they are seeing cases where people have coughs for up to 4-6 weeks.’’
He had to remain in quarantine as long as he had symptoms. ‘‘He still had cough during his 6th week, but it wasn’t as prominent,’’ he said.
@ant_them5’s doctor became a little concerned and decided to retest and the test came back negative and the cough also went away on the sixth week.
“Happy Monday everybody! Just wanted to share this update, that I’m fully recovered from the #Coronavirus ! Thank you to everybody that has continued to check on me, even until today."
He took to social media to express appreciation for the love and support saying, "Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all the essential workers (too many to name) for helping us to fight this virus and live somewhat normal lives! To my family and friends, all the love and support has meant the world!’’
@ant_them5 urged people to continue doing everything they can to protect themselves from Covid-19.
