A woman, who was simply identified as Refilwe, sent a message to Home Affairs on Twitter on Wednesday.
She revealed her dogs are her ID book and she has applied for a smart ID. Refilwe said the smart ID was ready but everytime she showed up at the offices, workers have excuses.
Her post read:
"Dear @HomeAffairsSA. I just wanted to let you know that the dogs ate my ID book. My smart ID card is ready at Edenvale branch but they've been either offline when I went to fetch or they are having labour issues."
Take a look at her post below:
South Africans were somewhat amused by the post and some of the Twitter CSI agents zoomed in on the thumb seen in the photos.
Briefly.co.za took a look at some of the comments the post generated.
Twitter user, @cheritykay, commented:
"Give that dog a pat on the back. When were you going to change it."
Another tweep, @VACTERL_Dad, added:
"Carry the dogs with you wherever ID is required."
Social media user, @drfmkhonto, said:
"It seems like the dog also ate your thumb in frame three."
