Renowned writer Malaika Mahlatsi has been prompted to issue a public statement denying some serious allegations levied against her by ex-lover Katlego Mamabolo.

Mamabolo, the chief director at Rectitude Private Prosecutions, claimed that the writer and TV presenter was writing a PhD dissertation for Ekurhuleni Mayor Mzwandile Masina, her boss.

Mahlatsi claims that her former bae must have been confused as to why she had the mayor's academic material on her laptop, explaining that she had been reviewing it for her employer.

She dared Mamabolo to bring forward the recorded audio evidence that he claims to possess, detailing the academic fraud.

The former couple exchanged some heated words on social media, with Mamabolo adamant that he had been relentlessly pursued.

Mahlatsi, known as Malaika wa Azania, later published a statement on Monday saying that the failed relationship had lasted 'barely two weeks'.

In response to the allegation that she had bombarded Mamabolo with calls, the writer claimed that the man rarely had airtime to make calls.

Mahlatsi claims she lost interest and subsequently broke off the relationship with Mamabolo pleading with her to give things another shot.

Snubbing bae after what has surely been a whirlwind affair, Mahlatsi claims to have moved on with an unnamed suitor.

Mahlatsi then goes on to claim she started receiving threats from her ex-lover when she continued to reject him.

“He proceeded to send me WhatsApp messages informing me that he would destroy me because I had destroyed him.”

According to Mahlatsi, the most disturbing allegation was the one levied against her boss, who she insists had not done anything untoward by sending her his work to get her opinion.

“He might have seen this chapter on my computer and made the assumption that I was writing it when in fact I was merely reviewing it and making commentary.”

Mamabolo is now facing charges of crimen injuria and harassment over this very public lovers' quarrel.

“I have every intention of suing him for the false allegations he has levelled against me, the damage to my reputation that he has facilitated and the emotional distress that the ordeal has put me through”.

Mamabolo has accused Mahlatsi of numerous lies, dubbing her “twisted and capable of advancing any lie in pursuit of attention”.

The vexed man claims that he can back up the serious allegations with audio evidence, commenting that.

“Furthermore I must clarify that my device has an app that generally records all incoming and outgoing calls. We are grateful for the convenience of technology.”
