The government has honoured a man who turned 121 years old recently. According to the man's granddaughter, Simangele UmaMkhize Mthethwa, the old man received a very special visit. previously reported thata proud Mthethwa took to social media to wish her grandfather a happy 121st birthday.

She also posted a picture of the elderly man looking snazzy and alert in his incredible old age. Mthetwa gave an update on her granddad's special day on the #ImStaying Facebook page on Wednesday.

The granddaughter revealed he received a visit from the local mayor who brought a cake and gifts for the centenarian.

Mthethwa's post read:

"Thanks South Africa for best wishes, the local municipality mayor visited umkhulu to celebrate his 121 birthday. They brought a cake and gifts for him and ugogo. Thank you once again."
