Mmusi Maimane has shaded DA leader John Steenhuisen after his recent disastrous SABC interview. Maimane hinted that Steenhuisen lacked respect and that's what may have derailed his dialogue with the interviewing journalist, Flo Letoaba.

He then reached out to the journalist to interview him instead. His shady tweet read:

"You see I think the key is respect. Ubuntu. That’s all that we need. Journalists have a job to do, we must respect that and be professional in how we respond, i-straight lendaba"

Letoaba interviewed Steenhuisen recently and things got heated really quickly. Steenhuisen had said that South Africans were complaining about the lockdown when Letoaba repeatedly asked him who the "South Africans" are. Steenhuisen took a jab at her and she chuckled before ending the interview.

Social media users were amused by Maimane's uncharacteristically shady side and weighed in. Twitter user kanjani_sonto said:

"Carry your Bible cos kzoshuba."

Maimane lightheartedly responded:

"I will carry my Bible and my list."
