South African businesswoman and reality star Mome Mahlangu has taken it upon herself to help girls in need with sanitary products during lockdown.

This national lockdown has left many without basic resources and funds to buy them – when you can’t afford to eat, sanitary products are on the bottom of the priority list.

Briefly.co.za learnt that Mome understands the struggle that many underprivileged girls are facing as their families struggle to make ends meet, and she needed to do something.

While there are many people assisting with food parcels and other basic needs, the lack of sanitary products has become a huge issue.

Mome took to social media to air her views, stating that running out of sanitary products is something that is a huge bother for her, so she can only imagine how those who can’t afford to buy them feel.

Through her beautiful foundation, the Ms Mome Wellness Foundation, Mome is doing her bit to not only donate sanitary products to those in need, but masks too.

“At this age I still get frustrated when I don’t have pads, only because I forget to buy them, but today I learned that there’s 90 kids at Othandweni Children’s Home in Soweto who can’t afford to buy it, when a mother looks at you and says you saved me with something as small as pads, sanitiser and toothpaste for her family, it’s the sense of appreciation that inspires me.
If you have anything you would like to send to Othandweni Children’s Home in "Soweto, White City, you are welcome.”
