Warren Masemola turned 37 today and posted a picture of himself in a new character get-up to celebrate.

Warren is one of Mzansi's most beloved stars and has played a range of memorable characters.

Most notable was perhaps his role on the recent hit drama The Republic, which won four SAFTAs at this year's awards.

Warren took to Twitter to post, "I am grateful to God and my parents for life ... a happy birthday to self."

The star posted a picture of himself in a character with a full beard, which shocked fans as he's known to have no facial hair and constantly sport a chiskop.

Fans congratulated Warren on the yearly milestone.

Maps Welsh put up collages of Warren in character and wrote, "Happy birthday Warra. May the Lord bless you everyday and night. You're the best (actor) Bafo."

Another tweep said, "Happy birthday grootman (big brother)."
Another fan added, "Grateful for the talent that's you. Happy birthday."

A birthday and SAFTA awards aren't the only things putting a smile on the thespian's dial this year.

Two weeks ago, Briefly.co.za reported that Warren and his wife announced that they were expecting their first child together.

The pair said they can't wait to finally meet their bundle of joy later this year.

Last year, Briefly.co.za also did a complete biography on Warren, where you can get to know more about the talented actor.
