- Idris Elba has signed on to join the MTV Base Covid-19 relief fund-raising concert
- AKA, Sho Madjozi and Burna Boy will also feature in the digital show
- Idris is a perfect candidate to bring awareness as he was diagnosed with Covid-19 earlier this year
Superstar actor and DJ, Idris Elba, will be joining the MTV Base Covid-19 relief fund-raising concert.
The digital show will take place on 25 May.
The concert’s line-up includes SA's Sho Madjozi, AKA, Tanzania's Diamond Platnumz, Congolese musician Fally Ipupa, Kenyan pop-soul group Sauti Sol and Nigeria's Burna Boy, Yemi Alade and Tiwa Savage.
Idris, who is based in the UK, tweeted about the exciting upcoming event.
Mzansi fans are excited for what promises to be an epic display of talent and great music.
However, a lot of disgruntled fans from countries that aren't involved were feeling disappointed at being left out.
A lot of Zimbabweans, in particular, filled Idris' mentions with complaints.
One Zimbo said, "Those countries aren't the whole of Africa. Do the right thing. Zimbabwe is in Africa."
Jonathan Chid asked, "Where is Zimbabwe? How come your Africa only has four countries?"
Last month, Briefly.co.za reported that Idris was terrified when he contracted the coronavirus because he has asthma.
After his recovery, Idris made a call for the world to observe an annual week of quarantine in order to honour those who have died from the disease.
