Gabisile Tshabalala calls out Netflix SA, wants pay for old drama

Gabisile Tshabalala is not here for the exploitation of her talent by streaming giant, Netflix SA.

The actress was shocked to discover that Netflix SA is screening episodes of Intersexions, a drama in which she had a lead role.

However, Gabisile is not receiving a cent for the repeats.

She posted a screenshot from Intersexions and asked, "Am I going to get paid for this? If yes, where do I send my banking details?"

When a fan agreed that Gabisile needs to be compensated, the actress said her contract also stipulated as such.

Netflix had not responded at the time of publishing.

Large international corporations taking advantage of even the most established artists is nothing new on the Mzansi entertainment scene.

Last week, Briefly.co.za reported that AKA had called out Reebok for not giving him a cent for his sneaker collaboration with the sportswear brand.

As a result, #ReebokMustFall trended for a while and one of AKA's fans even burned his limited edition Super Mega Reebok sneaker.

Reebok said they were "disappointed" with AKA taking his grievances to a public platform, but didn't dispute that they had paid nothing for the collaboration.

Musicians like Emtee have also accused certain record labels of unfair treatment.

Last month, Briefly.co.za reported that the rapper was still struggling to get his awards back from Ambitiouz Entertainment.
