Black Coffee buys stake in Gallo Music, wants to improve industry

DJ Black Coffee has bought a stake in Gallo Music Investments.

The star said he hopes his investment is a step in the right direction in terms of improving the Mzansi music industry for independent artists.

Gallo is South Africa’s largest and oldest independent music label.

Black Coffee made the exciting announcement on his social media account and fans were thrilled for him.

Aisha Pandor wrote, "Whoop!! Congrats Black Coffee. You're such a brilliant example of both investment back into the country and continent, and also thinking about the long term game. Much respect."

Black Coffee explained why the deal is so important to him.

He said, "It's about changing the narrative from what was a highly exploitative system to one of renewal and fairness."
He continued, "With Gallo as one of the greatest music companies in the world, we can start to build a new (and) equitable African music narrative in an environment where the artist thrives."

Last month, the United Nations (UN) thanked the star for his massive contributions to the Covid-19 fight in general.
