Africa Day was celebrated across the continent on Monday and social media was dominated by colourful outfits, slogans and messages.
The day is the annual commemoration of the foundation of the Organisation of African Unity on 25 May 1963.
The day is seen as a symbol of Africans' determination to liberate themselves from foreign rule and exploitation.

Briefly.co.za scoured Instagram on Monday and social media users shared some lovely posts in honour of the festivities.
The first one to catch the eye was a beautiful young lady who goes by the name Nomkitha July. Her short, but sweet caption said it all:
"I am African."
Briefly.co.za then came across the below captivating post by Miss Universe Kenya Stacy Michuki.
Not only did the giraffes and stunning backdrop remind one of the African continent, but it almost instantaneously sparks thoughts of her homeland, Kenya. Michuku's caption read:
"Africa is not just a place,it’s a feeling. Africa is the heart of the world and there are only few of us who have been touched by her. Africa defines our souls and people can feel it and you’ll just know it."

Briefly.co.za was also blown away by the below photo shared by Oratilwe Malekutu.
We love the fact that her outfit was unmistakably inspired by African culture, but the quiet background served as a stark reminder of the lockdown.
Makeda media shared a beautiful image which highlighted South African culture and included the caption:
"Africa Day 2020 underlines a special attention to unity and solidarity. As Makeda Media, we continue to be a Voice of Pan Africanism."
The final post was shared by Olisa Adibua and it showcased the huge potential that Africa has based on its natural resources.
Earlier, Briefly.co.za reported that Mzansi celebs have outdone themselves with their stunning outfits tailored specifically for the celebration of this year's Africa Day.
Despite the Covid-19 keeping most of them indoors, they made an effort to show the rest of the world how beautiful the African continent and its culture is.
