Angel Elsa Majimbo has become an internet sensation overnight after her hilarious lockdown videos went viral. The comedian from Kenya has been making social media users giggle and even got a shout-out from Lupita Nyong’o.

The 18-year-old gained social media fame when she posted about her isolation blues and woes. The relatable videos have seen her trend globally and caught the attention of famous faces like our very own Zozi Tunzi and Kenyan-born Lupita Nyong’o. The teen has even landed a collaboration with MAC make-up brand.

Drum magazine recently interviewed the young talent and she opened up about herself. She is currently studying towards a journalism degree. She revealed that although she is now making money from her content, she was still "the same old Elsa".

The comedian has visited South Africa before, having been to Johannesburg, Cape Town and Pretoria.

"My family and I sometimes visit in the summer. The people are really nice."

The Kenyan never considered herself a comedienne until she realised that people found her funny.

Speaking on her global influence, Elsa said:

"The shout-out from Lupita came as a shock. I mean LUPITA, I’m really happy to have gotten such. Miss Universe has been so kind and I appreciate the blessings. I love that I’ve been able to bond with her and create a friendship with her."

She affectionately refers to herself as 'Mpho', a name she was given by her South African fans.

"I love them a bit too much, hahaha!"
