Imbewu has fast become one of Mzansi's leading telenovelas. Briefly.co.za sat down with one of the actors, Sifiso Mchunu or more popularly known as his character, Lungani Maphumulo. Sifiso opened up about his personal life and landing one the biggest roles in his career.
Sifiso Mchunu hails from Hammarsdale in KwaZulu Natal. Growing up in rural area, Mchunu has always dreamed of making it big in the city. He's always had a passion for acting but his family and community believed that being an artist was not an achievement.
"I had to go to school and study something that was believed to be an achievement but I always knew that one day I will fulfill my dream as I have passion for filmmaking and music production."
Mchunu's acting journey started in 2018.
"I began my journey in professional acting on Imbewu the seed on eTV and Uzalo on SABC1"
So who is Lungani?
Lungani is the older brother of Maphumulo family. The character has a friendly personality at first but can easily and very quickly become menacing. Lungani is respectful towards his elders and takes pride in good manners.
This role means a lot to Sifiso as he told Briefly that he hopes it will open more doors for him in the industry.
The multi-talented young man also produces music, specialising in mixing and pre-mastering, He also has skills in radio presenting.
His best advice to people wanting to get into the industry is studying.
"They must study art to get to know more about the industry and what they are putting themselves into because being famous doesn't pay bills."
