- The EFF has donated another R6 million to the Covid-19 Solidarity Fund
- This brings the party's total contributions to date up to R12 million
- The Red Berets challenged President Cyril Ramaphosa to provide proof that he has actually forked over funding as well
Economic Freedom Fighters have announced that it has made yet another contribution to the Covid-19 Solidarity Fund in a bid to help out.
In a statement released on Friday, the EFF went as far as publishing proof of payment for their contribution:
"The EFF has once again contributed R6 million to the Covid-19 Solidarity Fund. Accordingly, we publicly produce our Proof of Payment as evidence to our commitment. We thank the disciplined and dedicated EFF public representatives who have sacrificed a third of their salaries to contribute to the fight against the spread of Covid-19."
Briefly.co.za gathered that this brings the total amount donated by the party up to R12 million since the beginning of the pandemic in SA:
"The EFF has through the selfless sacrifice of its public representatives contributed R12 million to the Solidarity Fund since the beginning of the lockdown. We applaud our Members of Parliament, Members of Legislature and Councillors for their contribution in efforts to preserve human life."
The party called on those who have claimed to have contributed to the fund to produce proof of payment, saying that failure to do so exposed them as liars:
"We maintain our belief that anyone who has failed to produce these proof of payments has effectively lied or misled society for public relations purposes. People and companies must provide evidence of their pledges as the EFF is doing."
In addition to this, the party called on President Cyril Ramaphosa to release proof of his contributions:
"Cyril Ramaphosa must produce proof of the third of his salary that he promised to contribute to the Nelson Mandela Foundation since he became president and the proof of the money he has contributed to the Solidarity Fund this far. We cannot trust Cyril Ramaphosa because he has a history of dishonesty and being dishonourable we demand proof of these contributions."
