Masasa Mbangeni has responded to disgruntled fans after her exit from Scandal!

The award-winning actress, who played the character of devious Thembeka, made her last appearance on the hit e.tv soapie on Wednesday night.

The show's fans were worried that it may lose viewers because of her exit. Her departure comes just days after the soapie waved goodbye to another award-winning actress Kgomotso Christopher.

Briefly.co.za reported when Kgomotso was showered with praise when she left the show.

Masasa took to Twitter to calm down the worried fans. The star explained to the fans that characters come and go but the show must go on.

She said it was the nature of storytelling otherwise the show becomes stagnant.

"The nature of storytelling is the coming and going of characters or else it becomes stagnant. It’s allowed. It’s the nature of the work."

Briefly.co.za reported that fans took to social media to appreciate Masasa's talent on the night she made her last appearance.

In other soapie news, Skeem Saam after a crew member came into direct contact with a relative who has tested positive for Covid-19.

The soapie, in a statement posted on its official Twitter account, said they have taken a decision to pause shooting until further notice.

The show will still continue airing every week night at 6.30pm, according to their tweet. The soapie confirmed that the affected crew member and everyone that they have been directly in contact with have all been tested. They are currently awaiting results, according to the statement.

The statement further stated that the rest of the show's crew has been asked to urgently self-quarantine while necessary health procedures and testing are being arranged in accordance with government legislation.
