Thapelo Mokoena’s father and Free State Stars chairman Mike Mokoena has sadly passed away.
Losing a parent is never easy, no matter how old you are or even if you are one yourself.
Briefly.co.za learnt that Thapelo’s father passed away in hospital in Johannesburg on Wednesday.
Mike was fighting a battle with cancer that he, unfortunately, did not win.
The news of his passing has taken many by shock as he made an undeniable impact on my people’s lives, especially in the sporting world.
Thapelo took to social media to pay tribute to his father and let the world know that he was his hero. A loss like this is not easily overcome.
Losing his father is one of the hardest things Thapelo has ever had to face.
“Rest in peace Dad. I’ve been dreading this day coming for a long time now. You put up a good fight with this cancer. Thank you for life. Thank you for the years. You can rest now. You also chose to leave on your son’s birthday. Lala kahle Mokoena. Thank you... Oh man."
