- ANC stalwart Carl Niehaus has weighed in on the debate surrounding Orania
- Niehaus has some pretty strong views on what should be done with the Afrikaaner settlement
- The political personality says that their flag should be burnt and the 'racists' should be thrown in jail
Orania has been in the spotlight ever since Gauteng MEC Panyaza Lesufi shared some strong views on the subject.
Briefly.co.za reported that Lesufi had voiced his opinion that the settlement doesn't belong in a non-racial society.
“This is money used in our country only by people who speak a certain language. They also have their own flag and laws. If you think we will keep quiet you are wrong. This madness must come to end. It’s a betrayal of our call for a truly non racial South Africa.”
African National Congress veteran Carl Niehaus insists that 'liberating' the settlement isn't going to cut it. Instead, the community in his opinion at least should be punished:
"Not keeping quiet is not good enough! Destroy the money, destroy the damn flag. Charge these white Orania ‘boere’ for their racism, throw them in jail. If our laws are not strong enough on racism to do that, pass the necessary legislation. This nonsense cannot be tolerated."
Niehaus has been hard at work rallying support for ex-president Jacob Zuma amid his corruption trial, which kicked off on Tuesday.
The veteran had urged all the ex-president's supporters to don shirts to show Msholozi some love as he faces down the long-awaited Thales debacle in court.
