- Masters of flame-grilled peri-peri chicken, Nando’s, were at it again, as they shared yet another hilarious social media post
- This was in response to a challenge issued by a social media user, who called on others to vote on which fast-food franchise produces the best chips
- Nando's didn't miss a beat and their comical response went viral
South Africa has been in turmoil for quite some time - unemployment has been sky high, the economic recession and then the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, if there are some qualities which South Africans are known for, then it has to be our resilience and great sense of humour.
Fast-food giant, Nando's, seems to have adopted the approach that laughter is the best medicine.
The masters of flame-grilled peri-peri chicken have become synonymous with saucy ads and feisty social media responses and the lockdown hasn't deterred them at all.
Another perfect example was provided on Wednesday when their social media team responded to a tweet shared by Twitter user Nafees (@Nafees_Koot).
Nafees' tweet included a photo of four fast-food franchises, namely Steers, McDonald's, KFC and Burger King.
The goal was for tweeps to vote on the best-tasting chips, but it seems Nando's took offence to being excluded.
Their hilarious said it all, as they roasted their competitors:
"The "our ice machine is out of order" section kodwa asikho lapho [but we are not there]."
The controversial tweet can be viewed below.
As with so many of Nando's posts, the tweet went viral and Briefly.co.za noted that it attracted a whopping 16 000 likes within a few hours.
Yekela Mawu’ Ngafuni (@rei_tee_cee) said,
"Nandi is that drunk aunt who tells on everyone’s secret on family gatherings awuzwa yeka umgqombhothi."
Inenekazi (@Inenekazi) added,
"Yes wena Nandos, flame grill them make them your chicken."
Good Vibes Hibiscus (@Ncedi9) responded,
"You're so spicy Nandos. That sounds like KFC their machines are always out of order."
NgolaBlink (@NgolaBlink) said,
"Sis Nandi is jelly she wasn't included."
Meanwhile, Briefly.co.za previously reported that a woman showcased her flame-grilled chicken in a bid to compete with Nando's.
The masters of Portuguese flavoured flame-grilled chicken shared a quick-witted response via social media.
