A Rhythm City actress has tested positive for Covid-19, according to media reports.
The actress, whose name has not yet been revealed, is already self-isolating. The publicist of the show, Tumi Mohlala, said they are waiting for the results for the crew and cast members who were in close contact with the actress.
"We are waiting for results. Until then our studios will be disinfected and sanitised."
ZAlebs reports that a Daily Sun source said they found out on Tuesday about her test.
"We were told the cast and crew would shoot enough episodes until we return to work. We will be off for two weeks."
The seriousness of the situation apparently forced production to end late on Tuesday, according to ZAlebs.
The actress refused to comment on the matter when the Daily Sun reached out for a comment.
Rhythm City is a fourth show to halt production due to the coronavirus. Muvhango has halted production amid fears of contracting Covid-19. Another popular soapie, Skeem Saam, also stopped production after one of its crew members came into direct contact with a relative who tested positive for the coronavirus.
Magic 1's telenovela The River has also stopped production due to the risk of exposing cast and crew members to the virus.
Briefly.co.za reported that Gomora actor Siya Xaba opened up about anxiety on filming during the Covid-19 pandemic. Siya said life on set is filled with a bit of anxiety and a lot of caution. The actor said got worried when he heard about other shows stopping production.
