- The Huku hitmaker said that she wanted to make the country feel good even under the trying circumstances
Sho Madjozi is dropping another banger to make Mzansi feel good during these uneasy times. The rapper's new offering, titled Spirits Up, is looking to get the nation on its feet with a new dance challenge.
Sho's song is accompanied by a vibey music video that will have the masses moving and shaking. When asked about why this initiative was close to her heart, Sho Madjozi said that she had found social distancing and lockdown to be discouraging because of the isolation from friends and family.
The rapper believed that it was important to find ways to keep her spirits up, thus leading to the new song and title.
Speaking to Briefly.co.za, Madjozi said:
“I want to encourage people to look at the brighter side of life – to remain positive and try to have fun among all this madness."
The muso is hoping a dance challenge similar to her popular John Cena will take off once again. When asked how she has managed to keep her energy up during the lockdown, the BET nominated artist said that she exercises often and works hard to keep herself fit and energetic.
Although her new song is aimed to improve moods during the lockdown, Sho is not sure how the impact of the pandemic will affect the music industry.
"To be honest I don't know what the future holds but I'm not scared."
She said South Africans should not to be scared either. The lyrics of the song encourage people to “keep our hopes alive - gotta take care so the spirit doesn’t die”.
She partnered with the visual social media platform TikTok to launch the video. The muso is hoping a dance challenge similar to her popular John Cena will take off once again.
When asked if Mzansi can expect a new album soon after this single release, Sho coyly answered that something was in the works and would be dropped later this year under a new record label.
Meanwhile, Briefly.co.za previously reported that Sho Madjozi and Sha Sha are flying the Mzansi flag high after bagging BET Award nominations. The African queens will be representing the continent on an international platform.
This is the second year of being nominated for Sho Madjozi. The John Cena hitmaker is competing for Best International Act at the #BETAwards. She is nominated alongside the 'African Giant' Burna Boy from Nigeria.
