South African Communist Party leader Siyabulelwa Siswana has died after gunmen attacked their Mfuleni home.
Siswana, his wife and six-year-old daughter were attacked by unknown assailants in their Cape Town residence.
Both Siswana and his daughter later died in hospital while his wife is fighting for her life after the incident, reported eNCA.
Benson Ngqentsu, SACP secretary for the region, says that the motive for the incident is unknown, calling for the police to investigate:
"As the South African Communist Party, we refuse to speculate because if we speculate, then we will be narrowing the scope for investigation."
The party has called on authorities to swiftly investigate the murder of the SACP leader, Briefly.co.za gathered.
