Somizi Mhlongo’s mother sadly passed away this past weekend and Mzansi artist Rasta painted a portrait in her honour.

Losing a parent is one of the hardest things anyone can go through in life, especially when they were your best friend.

Briefly.co.za knows that Rasta has had his moments when he has painted some questionable portraits, but this one of Somizi’s mother is something special.

Somizi’s mom, Mary Twala, sadly passed away on Sunday 5 June 2020 at Netcare Park Lane hospital in Johannesburg.

Messages of condolence have been pouring in ever since news of her passing broke. Mary was an influential woman whose memory will never be forgotten.

Doing what he does best, Rusta painted a portrait of Mary for Somizi. Honouring people's memories through art is what Rasta does and Somizi is extremely grateful for this touching token.

Taking to social media, Somizi shared the piece of art Rasta had done of his mother, thanking him for his care, kindness and for honouring his mom.

“Thank you Rasta.”

In related news, multi-award winning gospel star Lebo Sekgobela has sadly lost her mother.

Lebo’s mother Busani Mirriam Sekgobela has passed away, leaving a gaping hole in her heart.

Taking to social media to share the heartbreaking news, Lebo expressed how yesterday was the hardest moment of her life.

Being a woman of God, Lebo trust that her mother is in safe hands, however, this does not make the pain that she is feeling any lighter.

May her beautiful soul rest in peace and pay the Sekgobela family find tranquility.
