Comical video shows pupil sanitising whole body: “Where’s the teacher”

- A young pupil caused a stir when footage revealed her bizarre use of hand sanitiser

- The student not only used the sanitiser to clean her hands, but seemingly tried cleansing her entire body

- The video had a polarising effect, as some South Africans expressed disdain at what they saw

Schools have only recently reopened following the nationwide lockdown, with the majority of learners still awaiting the go-ahead from government.

Grade 12 learners were amongst the first to return and one of the key talking points has been the availability of hand sanitisers and masks.

It therefore came as no surprise when a recent video incurred the wrath of many a South African.

MEC for Education and Youth Development in Gauteng Panyaza Lesufi shared a video via his Twitter handle @Lesufi.

The footage reveals a young learner using sanitiser excessively, as she sprays the liquid over her entire body.

"A grade 12 learner doing this and y'all still say "kids will be kids"? This is despicable man."

Kevin John Banks (@Kjbanks) added,

"Mr Lesufi it's not a joke sir and that is a plain waste."

Ndaba, Mhlungu, Ligode (@tndaba) said,

"The big question: Where is the teacher."

Meanwhile, previously reported that parents in Mpumalanga have shut down a school after it emerged that there are no Covid-19 measures in place.

After attending school on Monday, learners informed their parents of the lack of water and sanitisers.
