Veteran gospel singer Dr Rebecca Malope has urged South Africans to remain strong and positive amid the Covid-19 pandemic. The muso believes that this is the time that people must remain strong in their faith as the entire globe is in a crisis due to the pandemic.
The multi-award-winning artist told Briefly.co.za that God will never take His people where His Grace wouldn't be able to carry them through.
"We need to be strong and remain positive. Those who are able to help others must do so unselfishly. This is the time when we must remain strong in our faith and know that He is our God, He will never leave us nor forsake us."
The star said the "irony" about this pandemic is that it has taught her that it doesn't take a big gathering to worship God.
"The irony about this pandemic in my eyes is the fact that even though most churches are closed, we have learned that worshipping should not only be at big gatherings. One can spend time with their family and still worship.
"God is making us spend more and more time with our families, this is not only good for the respective families but for the children as well."
Ribs, as she is fondly known by her peers and fans, said she is spending this lockdown at home with her family. She expressed that she doesn't take the "blessing" of having a family for granted.
The musician said 30 June was not only her birthday but it was also the launch of the Dr Rebecca Malope Foundation.
Rebecca said she was motivated to help others on her birthday because there was nothing much to celebrate "due to the current global conditions". On the day, Rebecca donated winter essentials at three charity homes, two elderly homes and a children's centre.
In other celeb news, Briefly.co.za reported that Penny Lebyane is ageing like fine wine and isn't afraid to show it off. The beauty recently posted a picture of herself looking beautiful as she flaunted her natural hair.
Penny did not hide the whispers of grey hair that were visible on her head. She proved that she definitely doesn't need a dye job to make herself feel like an absolute queen. The star captioned the image:
"A whole new week. Let's do our best."
