Cardi B has responded to the backlash from Carole Baskin over the animals in the music video for new song WAP. The song, which features Megan Thee Stallion, has quickly become one of the most-talked-about songs and videos this year.

The explicit track has drawn criticism from some due to the lyrical content. However, the music video has also received some criticism, notably from Tiger King's Carole Baskin.

Baskin is not happy about the treatment of the big cats in the music video. Cardi and Meg dance with tigers and cheetahs in the controversial video.

The animal rights activist believes that the duo used “one of the big cat pimps, who makes a living from beating, shocking and starving cats to make them stand on cue in front of a green screen in a studio".

Cardi B responded to the criticism by saying that she would not engage with Baskin on the matter.

The rapper went on to take a jab at the allegations that Baskin killed her husband. The claims were made against her on the Netflix docuseries Tiger King by zoo owner Joe Exotic. Cardi said:

"Like, that's just ridiculous you know? Oh, Lord. Like, girl you killed your husband."

Baskin’s second husband, Don Lewis, went missing in 1997. Baskin was not formally charged for his disappearance nor is she being investigated. However, many social media users entertained the conspiracy that Baskin killed him and fed him to the tigers at their sanctuary, Big Cat Rescue.
