South African comedic genius Trevor Noah really wants to win one of US President Donald Trump’s so-called #TheFakies awards.

Trump announced via Twitter (where else) that he would announce his ‘Most dishonest and corrupt media awards of the year’. Trump said he would announce the winners on Monday, a day after the Golden Globe Awards.

Trump said he would announce the winners in categories which included fake news, dishonest and bad reporting. The announcement is expected to be through Twitter.

Briefly.co.za discovered that Noah had taken out a full-page ad in the New York Times in hopes of grabbing Trump’s attention.

The ad reads: “For your Most Dishonest & Corrupt Media Awards of the Year consideration”. It includes a photo of Trevor and various quotes calling the show liberal, fake news and monotonous. The bottom of the ad reads: “The Daily Show with Trevor Noah is so fake even this ad isn’t real”.

Reports from the US suggest that Trevor could be in for a battle with fellow comedian (and vocal Trump critic) Stephen Colbert who hosts The Late Show.

Colbert has also embarked on a media campaign aiming to bag one of the newest if slightly ridiculous awards in the world.
