Jeff Bezos has become the first person in the world to amass a $200 billion fortune.
The world's richest person reached the milestone after Amazon's stocks edged up by 2% on Wednesday, August 26, thereby increasing Bezos' net worth by $4.9 billion.
According to Forbes, the Amazon founder is now worth $204.6 billion nearly $90 billion more than the world's second-richest person, Bill Gates, who's currently worth $116.1 billion.

Amazon's stocks have risen by 80% since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic and this was fueled by a change in consumer habits who made more orders online due to social distancing measures embraced by governments worldwide.
Bezos was not alone in the list of top gainers. Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg ended Tuesday, August 25, as a brand-new centibillionaire, worth $103.1 billion after adding $3.4 billion to his fortune in 24 hours.
