Initially, the MTV Video Music Awards 2020 was set to be aired live from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. However, the organisers of the event were forced to change the plans because of the pandemic. In line with the COVID-19 rules, a couple of the performances will be held outdoors with limited or no audience.

2020 MTV Video Music Awards TV times
Where can I watch the MTV Video Music Awards? This year's MTV Video Music Awards will take place on 30th August 2020 although South Africans will catch a glimpse of the events in the wee hours of Monday morning. The live show will kick off at 01h00, and it will start by a pre-show that will be hosted by Jamila Mustafa and Nessa. The main show will begin at 02h00 up until 04h00 CAT, and it will be hosted by the self-proclaimed millennial diva, Keke Palmer, and the two will air on MTV Base and MTV.
The pre-show will air in primetime at 18:00, and the main show will air between 19:00 to 21:00 on MTV only.
