He was born in Newcastle, Kwa-Zulu Natal. His family moved to Kgwara Village in Limpopo when he was three. After he matriculated in 1996, Mogashoa went to Jo'burg to join his mother, who was a domestic worker at the time and could not afford to pay for his university fee.

He looked for odd jobs, and by a stroke of nothing but good luck, he ended up being employed by Foschini. In just 6 months, he got a promotion. This hard work and grit defined the rest of his career, like in 1999, he started work at Imperial. By 2009, he rose the ranks so much; he was a dealer principal.

He gave up all of this in 2009 to start his own business and go solo, working from home. This was extremely difficult, and it reached a point in the entrepreneur's life that he almost quit and went back into employment.

This Soweto giants team is one of the two significant teams from Soweto, the other being the Orlando Pirates. The Swallows were formed in 1947 and dominated the soccer world in South Africa in the '50s and '60s, winning their most outstanding achievement ever in this time., the South African league title in 1965.

David Mogashoa's revival of the team

The return of the team to its former glory was a goring task. It required the purchase of two clubs in two separate leagues, liquidation of the initial team to pay back debtors, buying of intellectual property, and taking several risks to return the club to the top.

Mogashoa, Gauteng education MEC Lesufi, and many others worked hand in hand to make the teamwork. Soon after, they were competing in the National First Division, but on 30th August 2020, they were promoted to the ABSA Premier Soccer League.
